My Adult Review
Quense, Hank. The Author’s AI Toolkit: From Concept to Publication. NP: Strange Worlds Publishing, 2025.
It seems like everyone is talking about AI these days. Hank Quense takes a look at AI in the publishing industry in The Author’s AI Toolkit.
The chapters discuss how to get started with and use AI and then at the five phases of the writing process – planning, writing, publishing, marketing, and an author business.
One of the things I appreciate about this book is that Quense used italic font for text that was AI generated. In each chapter, after discussing how AI can be used, he shares the prompts he used and the responses that AI gave him.
The final chapter is a list of the queries/prompts used in the book. I found the prompts to be helpful and I will probably use them in some of my own work in the future. .
I was a bit disappointed that he only talked about Perplexity AI. I think most people know ChatGPT better and I would have liked to know how Chat could be used in this process (or why he chose not to include other AI models).
The Author’s AI Toolkit could be a good addition to a K-12 Christian school library. It teaches an appropriate use of AI and could be a guide for high school teachers.
I received a complimentary copy of The Author’s AI Toolkit. This is my honest review
