As an adoptive pet mom, I found this book to be very sweet. Sommer takes a look at what is involved in fostering a dog while waiting for a forever home. Her writing style brings readers into the life of a young girl as she fosters Pepper, her first foster dog.
Foster’s Leash could inspire more people to foster animals on their journey for a forever home. It could also help prepare families who are considering fostering.
Bulankinaka illustrations complement the text well. They go beyond the text and tell part of the story.
Foster’s Leash would be a great addition to the picture book collection of a K-12 Christian school library.
