About the Book
Title: A Christmas in Shady Springs
Series: Shady Springs
Author: Sarah Anne Crouch
Publisher: Scrivenings Press
Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance
Madeleine Mullins has always dreamed of a Christmas wedding that reflects her creativity and her deep love for A.J. Young. But with only three months to plan and a budget stretched tighter than a strand of lights, perfection seems impossible.
A.J. wants nothing more than to marry Madeleine, but he’s caught between family expectations, church politics, and his desire to give her the day she deserves. As the pressure builds, they’ll both have to decide what truly matters most.
When unexpected obstacles pile up—an invitation mixup, a winter flu, and a surprise ice storm—Madeleine and A.J. must confront a bigger question: Is a flawless wedding the goal, or is their love strong enough to carry them through the imperfections?
Set in the heart of small-town Arkansas, A Christmas in Shady Springs is a sweet Christian romance about love that holds fast, plans that fall apart, and grace that shines even brighter when everything else goes wrong.

My Adult Review
I have not read the previous books in the Shady Springs series by Sarah Anne Crouch. While I may have missed some prior knowledge, it did not feel like it. A Christmas in Shady Springs is a great Christmas read but it is also a great wedding/marriage story. The underlying theme of the story is the importance of a beautiful wedding vs. the importance of a marriage founded on lasting values.
Madeleine wants everything perfect for the day she will marry A.J. Yet it seems like if something could go wrong it is – I won’t give anything away, but if just one of the things had gone wrong it would be hard to deal with and one thing after another goes wrong. A.J. is content with whatever the wedding is like as long as they can marry but Madeleine stresses over every last detail to make it perfect.
The story is well-written and the characters are likeable. I’d read another book in this series.
A Christmas in Shady Springs was written for the adult audience. However, some high schoolers might enjoy the romance of the story. There is nothing to prevent the book from being added to a K-12 Christian school library.
I received a complimentary copy of A Christmas in Shady Springs. This is my honest review.
