My Adult Review

Forever series, book 4
Hope Dougherty has crafted a delightful romance in Forever Free. It is the fourth book in the series but I have not read all of the previous books. If you have read the previous books, you will probably recognize characters and have a little more prior information than I did. I appreciated the fact that I didn’t feel like I was missing any information – Dougherty includes everything the reader needs to know.
Since I love flowers I was really drawn in by the setting of this story – a farm where they raise flowers to sell. The characters are very real with very real problems that some readers will be able to relate to. Phoebe left a job she loved because of an unfortunate event. Heath has his own set of issues based on an event that happened years ago when he was in college. The story includes a lot of give and take between these characters, and angry words, as they get to know each other. The story is ultimately about forgiveness – forgiving ourselves and forgiving others.
Forever Free was written for the adult audience. There is at least one scene that has a description of some pretty passionate kissing. For this reason I recommend that K-12 Christian school librarians read the book themselves and decide if the book is appropriate for their audience. I did enjoy the book and may just go back and read the ones I haven’t read yet.

The setting for the book sounds intriguing, and I like that it can be read as a standalone even though it is part of a series.
