Summary
Ginny Masters manages a popular boutique hotel in Seattle and manages it with aplomb. But the daily challenges and irritations of a fast-paced job and a demanding boss are starting to get to her. Jacqueline Potter manages her grandfather’s fishing lodge in Idaho because it was the only job she could find after graduating with her hospitality degree. She’s grateful for the work but longs for a more sophisticated and cosmopolitan life she’s just not going to find in this backwoods town.
The solution to both their problems seems obvious. Just for the summer, they’ll swap jobs and lifestyles. But they never anticipated swapping love interests . . .
In this fabulous new twist on an age-old fable, award-winning and bestselling author Melody Carlson introduces you to two career-focused women who are about to discover that there’s more to finding happiness than just switching up the scenery.

My Adult Review
Any chance I have to read one of Melody Carlson’s books I grab it. I don’t know that I’ve read anything from her that I didn’t enjoy. Just for the Summer was no exception. Just for the Summer is a contemporary romance that is perfect for a lazy day when all you want to do is read.
The book has two settings which center around two female characters. Ginny is tired of her boss at an upscale hotel in Seattle. Jackie is tired of working at the family fishing lodge miles from civilization. The women agree to a job swap. It works well for one but not the other.
There are also a couple of male characters. Adrian is the son of the owner of the hotel. Ben is the river guide at the fishing lodge (he is also a lawyer and a novelist).
Romance is involved as you might expect. There is also on-the-job drama with a boss. Through it all the two ladies learn a lot. One thing that disappointed me a bit was that only one of the characters seemed to have any relationship with God and there was no mention of church attendance.
Just for the Summer is an adult contemporary romance. However, there is nothing in the story to prevent it from being added to a K-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for eighth grade and up.
I received a complimentary copy of Just for the Summer. This is my honest review.
