The Road to Chidarra, is a Christian fantasy novel based in an age when men worshipped at the altar of their cruel masters the gods, and feared the monsters and strange beings who plagued their lands with malice and terror. About the Author – Keith Perrin
Keith Perrin, is a Christian Author who loves to tell biblical truths in an entertaining imaginative way, without compromising the reality of the scriptures, which will inspire people to discover the Bible and The Lord Jesus Christ for themselves. Growing up he watched tons of super hero cartons, Saturday afternoon science fiction and monster movies, plus reading marvel comics. His day dreaming and wild imagination would have him experience all sorts of adventures. Soon he would put those adventures to paper, drawing and writing stories of all sorts. By far his biggest inspiration was reading the bible and bible stories at a young age that drew him closer in his relationship with this awesome God who worked might miracles and showed redemption and forgiveness to the flawed people in those stories. Flawed people just like himself. Keith’s calling is to love God, share the Gospel to all who would hear and use his talents to produce fruit for the Kingdom of God!
More from Keith Perrin
I am so excited to have readers experience my book. If you are a fantasy, sci-fi, quest or supernatural lover of fiction like myself, this should be a treat, and it is topped off with biblical under and overtones to boot. Creating this world and its characters is fun and rewarding as it helps to bring my imagination alive for others to hopefully experience it in a fun , interesting and thought provoking way. The Prophet Feneer is faced with many trials on his journey through strange lands. He must rely on the faithful invisible hand of God to guide him through heartache, uncertainty, and terrors that await him. Like all of us he has his faults, doubts and sins he must overcome to complete his assignments. The question is, will he survive long enough against the forces set against him and the inner doubts that plague him to bring the light of God to lands held in the grips of horrific darkness!
Author Interview – Keith Perrin
When did you first know you wanted to be an author?
At a very young age I knew I wanted to draw and write stories. My imagination never rested, my mind was always racing and if I wasn’t reading comic books or drawing characters and stories on paper I was watching cartoons and stuff on TV.
When you are not writing, what other hats do you wear? What do you do for fun?
When not writing I am working as an animal caretaker, taking care of my house, enjoying being a husband and grandfather, and also reading the bible, praying, fasting and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Spreading the Word is my truest passion period!
What is your favorite genre to read? What about that genre draws you?
The genre that I enjoy the most would be Eschatology biblically speaking hands down. As far as books definitely fantasy and sci-fi. Also, testimonies of God’s supernatural divine intervention, working in normal everyday people’s lives. What draws me to read fantasy and sci-fi are the fantastical aspects of imagining being in strange worlds with superpowers under incredible situations of action, adventure, and danger. No doubt about it.
What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
My favorite thing about this time of year is being able to travel and take vacations during the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Looking at the change of the seasons and the beautiful foliage is serenity at its finest. My wife and I both love this time of the year best by far.
What historical figure do you admire and why?
Jesus is my favorite historical figure because He is my Lord, Savior, friend, and God! He has been there for me, has never let me down and is alive sitting on the right-hand side of the Father.
How does your faith play out in your writing?
My faith plays out in my writing first of all because I pray and ask God direction and will before I write. That He would guide my hand to express what he desires in my characters world building, themes and over projecting His truth love and power of redemption over the realm of darkness.
As a former K-12 school librarian(and since this blog is geared toward school librarians) I have to ask – what is your favorite children’s book?
My favorite children’s book was my Peter Pan Book of Bible stories that had a cassette tape to listen and read along. I cannot tell you how inspirational it was in the development of my relationship with the Lord!
Young Author’s Days were an important part of my work as a school librarian. What advice would you give to a child or teen who wants to be a writer?
The advice I would give a child who wants to become an author is to start writing real short stories so they are not overwhelmed. Do not be afraid to be different and write what interests you and not so much what others like. Use your imagination and draw characters. Make little 5 page books. When you have an idea, write it down so you won’t forget and most of all pray and ask God to help you. Trust me he will guide your hands and your thoughts and help you in ways you can’t imagine.
