Summary – All Creatures Come and Sing

This book tells the story of a parrot who learns every word of the hymn All Creatures of Our God and King. The parrot begins to sing the beautiful hymn all day, everyday, and everyone who hears it is drawn to join in its joyful song of praise.

All Creatures, Come and Sing is meant to be read/sung aloud to young children. If you are not familiar with the hymn, All Creatures of Our God and King, you can listen to the melody on youtube before reading the book for the first time. Some recordings that you might enjoy are:

Kid Review of All Creatures, Come and Sing

Kristina Schoettle is a new-to-me author. I love how she has taken the word of the song “All Creatures of our God and King” and wrote a story around it. It’s a beautiful story of an older lady who owned a pet store. She sang the song every morning while she worked in the shop. One of the parrots learned the words of the song and eventually sang it when customers were in the store. I love the way this parrot was able to share this song with people who might not otherwise have heard the song. 

The illustrations by Julie Sneeden are beautiful and very realistic and complement the text well. 

All Creatures Come and Sing would be a great addition to a K-12 Christian school library. Preschoolers and elementary students will enjoy this book. It might even be a good book to use for a kids chapel service or family devotion time.
