My Kid Review

Bakery Babies is a fun book for toddlers. The babies in the town “escape” to the bakery at night and bake and eat yummy goodies. Newman’s rhyming text will appeal to this age group. The story is well-written and embraces what it might be like to be a baby/toddler who runs away from home every night.

The illustrations include some hidden images which make this story an interactive one. Kwong-Newman used pastel colors in her illustrations which add to the “baby-ness” of the book. They complement and extend the story.

The author and illustrator (sisters-in-law) included some family recipes that parents can make with their children.

Bakery Babies would be a delightful addition to the picture book collection of any K-12 Library.

I received a complimentary copy of Bakery Babies. This is my honest review.
