In Coop Helps Out, the youngest member of the Wheelie family learns that by serving others, we can serve Jesus.

When Demas, the son of a world-famous race car, makes fun of how Pops’ job as the town garbage truck makes him dirty and smelly, Coop starts to wish his father had a more popular, cleaner, cooler job. But when Pops gets sick, Coop learns how important being a garbage truck really is and steps in to help clean up the town. Coop discovers that his father’s humble, selfless service points to Jesus, the best servant of all, who came to clean up the mess in our hearts.

The second book in The Wheelies series, written by Sarah Reju and illustrated by Tania Rex, Coop Helps Out will teach children ages 3–8 that they can serve others because of how Jesus has served them.

  • Children will learn from Coop that helping family and friends is a good way to show love to Jesus.
  • Children will be captivated by a fun story about a family of cars and trucks
  • Special section for parents provides points for further conversations about serving and suggestions for putting service into action.

My Kid Review

Coop Helps Out looks at the Biblical concept of servanthood. It also subtly looks at honoring parents. Coop’s dad is the town trash truck. Coop’s “friend” is the son of a race car. This friend enjoys pointing out how stinky and dirty Coop’s dad is after working all day. Coop becomes ashamed of his dad. An older friend helps Coop to see that his father has a servant heart that Coop should also look to exhibit.

Tania’s Rex used a comic book style to illustrate the text of Coop Helps Out. They will appeal to young children.

The book ends with a note for parents about teaching servanthood to their kiddos.

Coop Helps Out would be a great addition to the picture book section of a K-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for preschool and early elementary children.

I received a complimentary copy of Coop Helps Out. This is my honest review.
