My Kid Review of G’Day from Australia
Manica has created an informative series of books introducing early elementary-aged children to a variety of countries. G’Day from Australia introduces children to all things Australia. From location on the map to its government, climate, and food. The author then takes readers around the country – visiting various territories and cities.
Some of the things that disappointed me a bit – The author mentions that there are 10 territories but only tells where 3 of them are. Bathing boxes are mentioned but no definition of what that even is. For some kids the most famous landmark of Australia, The Australian Zoo in Queensland, is not mentioned. It also is written using British English spellings rather than American English which may confuse some American children. In spite of these disappointments I still give it 5 stars because I think it is a great resource – American teachers can just explain the spelling differences.
Many primary and mid-elementary teachers have students write their first research projects on countries – G’Day from Australia would be a great tool for such a project.
G’Day from Australia would be a great addition to the elementary nonfiction section of a K-12 Christian school library.
I received a complimentary copy of G’Day from Australia. This is my honest review.
