My Kid Review

Butterfield, Daisy. Grammie and Pupa’s House. Illustrated by Justin P. Wayoro. 2023.

Grammie and Pupa’s House is a delightful story about a little girl who spends Saturdays with her grandpa and grandma. Butterfield captured the personality of the young girl and her delight of spending the day with her grandparents. Daisy has many experiences with her grandparents – from helping in the garden to helping in the kitchen. To me it seemed like a very full day! I love the encouragement this book gives children and grandparents to spend time together.

Longer and a different size than a traditional picture book, Grammie and Pupa’s House is more of a picture storybook.

Justin P. Wayoro created illustrations that compliment the text. However, I found them to be a little flat and I’m not sure how well they will appeal to young children.

Grammie and Pupa’s House would be a nice addition to a K-12 Christian school library. It is a great read-aloud and is appropriate for preschool and early elementary.

I received a complimentary copy of Grammie and Pupa’s House. This is my honest review.

Meet the Author – Daisy Butterfield

I was born in a small New England town. Growing up I lived just two houses away from my grandparents, and spent countless days hanging out with Grammie and Pupa playing games and gardening. I loved flowers, and still do. I would roam the fields picking wild Lupine, Queen Anne’s Lace, and, of course, Daisies. This book is a legacy to my grandparents, a way of saying thank you for the sweet memories. May you make sweet memories with your little ones as you read this book with them.
