Summary

Lucas takes a walk one day and collects all the letters of the alphabet in his handy dandy red wagon! He imagines words that start with each letter and wonderful, whimsical images of those words!

“These letters,” said Lucas,

“Are really quite cool.

They sound pretty awesome!

They totally rule!”

“They help me say words,

Ask questions, exclaim!

They teach me my lessons.

They help me play games!”

Filled with rhyme and rhythm and illustrated by fine artist, illustrator and educator Linden Eller, children and adults alike will be excited and surprised by Lucas’s imaginary journey through the alphabet! It’s a must read!

My Kid Review

Listening Lucas Listens to Letters is a concept book. It teaches the letters of the alphabet with opportunities to identify animals, colors, and more.

Linden Eller’s colorful illustrations expand on the text. They give children the opportunity to point out many of the aspects of the text that are found in the illustrations.

Listening Lucas Listens to Letters would be a great read aloud for a parent or caregiver to read with a child who is learning letters. For more interaction, the adult can ask the child to point out specific letters or objects as they are mentioned in the text. The book is better suited for small group (1-3 children) reading rather than a full class because of this interactive aspect of the book. However, a classroom teacher could still read the book to the class without the interactive component.

Listening Lucas Listens to Letters is appropriate for the picture book section of a K-12 Christian School library.

I received a complimentary copy of Listening Lucas Listens to Letters. This is my honest review.
