My Kid Review

Heaton, Holly. My Way Home. 2024.

My Way Home is a fantasy story for young children. Holly Heaton crafted the story as well as creating the illustrations.

Kit is a “little folk,” kind of like a fairy. His village is attacked by a fox. The fox steals something from the village and Kit follows the fox in order to get it back. The story follows Kit’s journey into unknown territory as he retrieves the crystal for his village.

My Way Home is really more of a picture storybook as there are quite a few words on the page. I don’t think that children will reach a point where they can “read” the story alone as there is a lot of information to go with each picture. There are some picture books that non-readers can “read” for themselves after having it read to them a number of times; this is not one of those books. With that said, it is a book that adults and children can enjoy together.

My Way Home could be added to a K-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for preschool and early elementary-aged children.

I received a complimentary copy of My Way Home. This is my honest review.
