Summary – The Bear in the Blue Bow Tie

The Bear in the Blue Bow Tie was inspired by classic children’s literature and is very much in the style of A. A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh) and Kenneth Grahame (The Wind in the Willows). The Bear in the Blue Bow Tie is intended to be read aloud to young children. It builds upon the natural and organic way in which children acquire fluency in language by presenting new words and sentence structures in a recognizable context.

The Bear in the Blue Bow Tie unites the enchanting elements of story with the artful use of language. It engages a child’s natural capacity to grasp the meaning of things through context and experience, while sparking his or her imagination.

Kid Review – The Bear in the Blue Bow Tie

Kristina Schoettle and Elizabeth Welch chose to write the story of The Bear in the Blue Bow Tie in rhyming verse. This type of text is very popular with younger children. Many of the pages are actually written in limerick form.

There is some difficult vocabulary in the story. I really liked the new vocabulary list found at the end of the story – this list will help parents help their children expand their vocabulary.

The illustrations are simple and appear to be computer generated. They are a pretty good example of the type of illustrations that can be generated using the computer.

The Bear in the Blue Bow Tie could find a place in a k-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for young elementary students. It could also serve as an example for what students could do if writing a book of their own.

I received a complimentary copy of The Bear in the Blue Bow Tie. This is my honest review.
