Tully’s Christmas Mess tells the story of an adventurous Christmas in the Miller house, reminding them of the true reason why we celebrate.

Tully wants to be a part of all the Christmas festivities along with his human family, but they are always telling him, “No Tully. Sit down. You will make a mess.” When his leash gets tangled around the Christmas tree, the whole tree falls down, creating a big mess! Tully is afraid his family will be mad that he ruined Christmas, but instead they are reminded of the very first Christmas when Jesus came to Earth to clean up our messes.

This Christmas turn to Jesus who came into our messy world, took up our burdens, carried our sorrows, and died so we might live. Now he lives to intercede for all, right in the middle of our messy lives. It is a good and true story to share with your family on Christmas and every day throughout the year.

My Kid Review

Tully seems like a loveable dog who gets into trouble. While the story the Miller’s tell does revolve around Christmas – it has a good message for all year. The Christmas message is that the first Christmas had chaos and confusion just like Tully caused. The year round message is that, like Tully, we are loved even when we mess up.

Howley’s illustrations match the text well and help little ones to visualize the story.

Tully’s Christmas Mess would be a great addition to the Christmas collection or picture book section of a K-12 Christian school library.

I received a complimentary copy of Tully’s Christmas Mess. This is my honest review.
