My MS Review
Schlorff, Carol. How to Kill a Giant. Plymouth, MA: Elk Lake Publishing, 2023.
How to Kill a Giant is a time warp Biblical fantasy for middle school readers. Schlorff understands the pain points of her target audience.
Schlorff takes three unbelieving friends from the modern world and time warps them to the biblical time of David prior to his killing of Goliath. Many in this age group appreciate fantasy stories, the author uses the genre to introduce a behind the scenes look at a popular Bible story.
The three friends all have dealt with bullies, and their time with future King David helps them learn how to trust God in their dealings with mean people.
How to Kill a Giant would be a good addition to a K-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for older elementary and middle school readers.
I received a complimentary copy of How to Kill a Giant. This is my honest review.
