My YA Review
Wahl, Leslea. A Summer to Treasure. NP: Perpetual Light Publishing, 2025.
Leslea Wahl writes in such a way that shows she understands teens and pre-teens. She incorporates her Catholic faith into her stories and gives non-Catholics a better understanding of the Catholic faith.
In typical teen fashion the three siblings in this story have their summer all planned out. That is until Dad announces a family road trip inspired by their grandmother. All three grow and change as the trip progresses. They grow closer to each other as well as closer to God. By the end of the book they are all thankful to have been on the trip.
Readers will identify with the characters. I’d love to see another book about this family.
Even though A Summer to Treasure is written with a Catholic influence, it would be a good addition to a K-12 Christian school library. Readers may better understand the similarities between Catholic and Protestant faith after reading it.
I received a complimentary copy of A Summer to Treasure. This is my honest review.
