Summary
Sophomore high school student Lorali Mathews has one goal: win a scholarship to play volleyball at a Division One school.
The only thing standing in her way?
- A losing streak.
- A toxic teammate.
- A murderous man.
- A distracting boy.
- Yucky kale chips ….
oh yeah, and about four inches in height.
And it doesn’t help that her aunt ― who inspired her love for volleyball ― passed away in an unfortunate accident.

My Kid Review
I have read many sports books for kids and teens but I don’t think I’ve ever read a Volleyball story, until now. Lori Z. Scott, a former college volleyball player, has written a great book for teens which focuses on Lorali, a high school volleyball player. Lorali wants to play D1 volleyball and prays for the Lord to show her what she needs to do for success. Readers will follow Lorali’s journey through many challenges as she works toward her goal. Readers get to know most of the gals on the team and Lorali learns to listen to the prompts from God about how she should interact with them.
I was engaged in the text from the first page – definitely a “can’t put it down” book for me.
Trigger warnings – unresolved grief, domestic abuse, and attempted murder are part of the plot which does have a “happy ending.”
Inside the Ten-Foot Line would make a great addition to a k-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for 8th grade and up.
I received a complimentary copy of Inside the Ten-Foot Line. This is my honest review.
