Tomorrow’s Edge Trilogy, 3
Silent Stars is a satisfying conclusion to Brett Armstrong’s Tomorrow’s Edge Trilogy. It has been a while since I read the first two books in this series, so there were things I didn’t remember. Armstrong does build in enough history information that I could follow the plot line. However, since there isn’t a summary of the previous books, it probably would have been helpful to read the three books back to back.
Many characters come back from the previous books. Elliot and Lara’s relationship develops and has to work through some challenges. They work together to fight the re-writing of literature and history. I did enjoy the quotes from C.S. Lewis and Shakespeare which open every chapter.
Several aspects of this story were a bit scary – you can see how parts of the story could really happen based on happenings in today’s world. Readers will also see the importance of memorizing Scripture and being ready to use it when speaking against evil.
Silent Stars is a young adult dystopian novel. It would make a great addition to a K-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for eighth grade and up.
