Summary

What’s REALLY hiding in the forests of the Pacific Northwest? Could it be The Tyrant King’s army of Darkbrands? Could it be more of Mr. Jones’s liaisons? Or could it be the solution to the problem vexing our favorite heroes? Whatever mystery it is, you can guarantee the boys from Georgia are sure to find themselves deep in the thick of it.

My YA Review

Once again I was able to jump into a book from The Talisman series and not have to think about what happened in previous books. I read many books and it is quite rare when I can read a first page and remember what happened in previous books in a series. Kudos to Brett Salter for creating such a memorable storyline and characters.

The plot of The Battle for Verdana continues almost immediately where book three Windy City Ruins leaves off. Julian is without his powers and Rome is without most of his powers. They can no longer hear each other’s thoughts. All because their talisman was destroyed. The Battle for Verdana is about their quest for a new talisman. They seem to be constantly fighting against evil in this book. It almost feels like they can’t get a break.

The Battle for Verdana does have more battles and violence than I remember the previous books. I am enjoying the series and hope to read all the books to the conclusion of the series.

I do think that with the evil and darker elements of the story and the amount of violence at times, K-12 Christian school librarians (and parents) should read the book for themselves to determine if it is appropriate for the pre-teens and teens in their lives.

I received a complimentary copy of The Battle for Verdana. This is my honest review.
