Summary

He’s taking over her cat. She won’t let him invade her heart.

When her boss crosses a line, Johanna Strand quits her job to pursue her dream career as a social media chef.

But if she’s going to turn her hobby into a full-time income, she needs a business coach to steer her toward success. Too bad the only available candidate in her small town is the self-righteous neighbor who’s low key trying to steal her cat.

Amid the Ashes is Book 4 in Milla Holt’s Seasons of Faith Christian romance series. Five friends were in the same wedding in a small Norwegian town over twenty years ago. Four bridesmaids, one bride. Now, two decades on, each woman learns that God’s timing is perfect as they find forever love later in life.

My Adult Review

Amid the Ashes is the fourth book in Milla Holt’s Season of Faith series. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters over the course of the series. The main character in each title was part of the same wedding 20 years ago. Some of the five women appear in each book but the focus is definitely on one of the five. 

Amid the Ashes focuses on Johanna, a successful real estate agent who wants to become a YouTuber in the cooking realm. She’s already making some money doing it as a hobby, the question is what does she need to do to turn it into a full time income. Holt includes some tips that may just help those of us who want to make money from home as well. 

A cat with a mind of its own plays a role in the plot of Amid the Ashes. So cat-lovers will find a connection with the story. Johanna is a middle-aged single so those who are older singles may enjoy the later-in-life romance presented in this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to the final book in the series, due out next year.

There is nothing in Amid the Ashes that would keep it from being in a K-12 Christian school library. However, considering the age of the characters it is probably best in a library that caters to adults.
