Summary
If only the journey of life came with a compass . . .
As the people in these stories struggle to find their way, they must navigate wedding plans overshadowed by family drama, witty banter culminating in a motorcycle ride through the mountains, a job loss that opens the door to a sweet future, language barriers complicating an emergency delivery, and a small-town festival tainted by betrayal.
◆ The Poetic Baker by Stacy Monson
◆ The Gentling of O’Dell Adrian by Eleanor Bertin
◆ You Always Were My Favourite by Sara Davison
◆ Abroad by Deb Elkink
◆ Thief, Interrupted by Johnnie Alexander
Have these men and women veered so far off course that they’ve reached the point of no return? Or will faith, perseverance, and the long and winding road they have been on lead them to exactly where they are meant to be?
Off the Beaten Path is a collection of five short stories that sweep the reader off on tales of adventure.

My Adult Review
Once again, the Mosaic sisters have pulled together an anthology of novellas that readers enjoy. Some of the stories feature minor characters from their previous books. Some of the stories introduce us to new characters we want to read more about. Each story is well written and follows the theme of adventure in out-of-the-way places.
In The Poetic Baker by Stacy Monson, we meet Delaney, who is at a crossroads in her life after being “downsized” out of a job. She spends some time in a Montana cabin and in the process, re-invents herself.
The Gentling of O’Dell Adrian by Eleanor Bertin takes us back to a character from her books Unbound and Tethered. It is always nice to see more of the story of characters from previous books. This novella is what happened in between.
You Always Were My Favorite by Sara Davison tells the family story of the fiancé of one of the characters in her In the Shadows series, and this young lady has quite a background.
Deb Elkink in Abroad also expands the story of a previous character. This time, it is Kallum from her previous novellas Adrift and Aloft. This time, we travel with Kallum and his new bride as they deliver an orphan from Canada to her grandmother in Morocco.
The final novella is Thief Interrupted by Johnnie Alexander. This prequel to The Mischief Thief tells the story of Chaney from that book.
If you are looking for a book to take on vacation, Off the Beaten Path is a great choice. The novellas are short enough for an afternoon read.
Because Off the Beaten Path is for adults, I am not sure I would place it in a K-12 Christian school library. Librarians should read the book first to determine if it is appropriate for their audience.
I received a complimentary copy of Off the Beaten Path. This is my honest review.
