Cece’s Sour & Sweet Journey to Medical School is autobiographical. It tells the story of a young girl who believed in the truth of Jeremiah 29:11. The story starts with her love of science and explores the path she took to finally get into medical school (after many attempts). The story could serve as an encouragement to children with big goals that seem unattainable. Cece’s story is inspiring and shows the benefits of not giving up and working hard toward a goal.
Setiawan’s illustrations match the text well and help children visualize the story.
Cece’s Sour & Sweet Journey to Medical School could be added to the picture book section of a K-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for primary-aged children. I received a complimentary copy of Cece’s Sour & Sweet Journey to Medical School. This is my honest review.
