My Kid Review

Charlie Chaloosy is Often Quite Choosy is the first book in Brad Mason’s new series about a young boy as he grows up. This title takes a closer look at the fears Charlie faces – trying new foods, doing new things, meeting new people. Readers (and listeners) follow Charlie on his journey to eat something different, meet someone new, and do things he’s never done before. A great book for helping kids understand they are not alone in their fears. It may just give them the encouragement they need to expand their life.

Mason chose to use a rhyming text to convey the story. Kids of the age of the target audience enjoy rhyming words which adds to the appropriateness of the book.

The illustrations are well done and complement the text well. Charlie is a boy many kiddos will be able to relate to.

Charlie Chaloosy is Often Quite Choosy would be a good addition to the picture book section of a K-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for preschoolers and early elementary children.

I received a complimentary copy of Charlie Chaloosy is Often Quite Choosy. This is my honest review.

Meet the Author – Brad Mason:

My passion for children’s literature stems from 30+ years in education and my re-entry into bedtime stories with the addition of my beautiful grandchildren. I created Charlie as a means for children to learn with Charlie by having a growth mindset when it comes to facing new experiences and learning new things. Children live in a world that is traveling ever faster and my desire is to help them slow down and enjoy childhood through the adventures of Charlie Chaloosy. I hope children have fun with Charlie while engaging their minds through stories that encourage them to read, write, illustrate, and dream a little.
